Brief profiles of the Board Members

Clara Bassan

Her research interests include transnational history, environmental history, the history of European integration, and North–South global relations. In particular, she focuses on the history of environmental movements and Green parties in Europe.

Alongside her academic work, she has collaborated with NGOs on environmental issues and development cooperation through various traineeships. Most recently, she completed a traineeship at the European Research Council Executive Agency in Brussels.

Clara has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Langer Foundation since March 2022.

Marzia Bona

Marzia Bona has been a researcher at Eurac Research since 2018, focusing on human migration, local development, and social transformations in rural and mountain areas.

She holds a degree in International Relations, specialising in the post-Yugoslav region. She has carried out research and collaborative work in Sarajevo, working with the European Regional Master’s Programme in Democracy and Human Rights in South East Europe (ERMA) and with Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa.

For the latter, she contributed to the research project Cercavamo la pace (“We Were Looking for Peace”), which examined Italian solidarity initiatives during the conflicts in the Balkans in the 1990s.

Her research interests also include gender dynamics in migration processes and post-conflict settings.

Giulia Galera

Born in Sterzing/Vipiteno, Giulia Galera is currently a researcher at Euricse in Trento, an institute specialising in social enterprises and cooperatives.

Her research interests include the role and potential of the third sector in fostering the social and labour-market inclusion of vulnerable people, supporting asylum seekers, refugees and people holding different forms of international protection, promoting community-based healthcare systems and, more broadly, combating inequalities and building a more cohesive and democratic society.

She has coordinated numerous European projects and collaborated with a range of international and national institutions. She is also President of Miledù, a social enterprise based in Como.

Sabina Langer

Sabina Langer designs and facilitates educational, training and social initiatives aimed at promoting participation and active citizenship, both in schools and beyond.

She holds a degree in Political Philosophy and a PhD in General Education, Social Education, General Didactics and Subject-Specific Didactics from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

She is an editor and author of numerous textbooks for primary and lower secondary schools and co-curator of the international conference PEA – Pedagogy, Ecology and the Arts.

She collaborates with the ED.UMA.NA network, Zero5 – Laboratorio di Utopie Metropolitane social cooperative, and interazioni.eu.

For more than 25 years, Bosnia and Herzegovina has felt somewhat like a second home to her, thanks in part to projects carried out with the Alexander Langer Stiftung Foundation.

Tommaso Marangoni

Born in 1993, Tommaso Marangoni has long been interested in issues related to coexistence and multilingualism.

Building on extensive experience in local politics in South Tyrol, he has been living and working in Innsbruck since 2024, where he is involved in cross-border cooperation projects.

Through his involvement in cultural and sports associations, he seeks to foster intercultural encounters and exchange.

Silvano Motto

Silvano Motto is 55 years old and holds a degree in Electronic Engineering. He currently serves as a director of two companies active in the organic sector, one in retail and the other in food processing, of which he is also a founding partner.

Throughout his professional career in the private sector, he has always considered it essential to manage his time and energy in a way that allows him to devote a significant part of both to voluntary work.

Since 1999, he has been involved in international cooperation through the Circolo Alex Langer in Viareggio, of which he has been President since 2005. Since 2006, he has also been a member of COSPE, where he has served on the Board and as Treasurer.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Alexander Langer Foundation since 2018, where he has also served as Treasurer.

Stefano Petrungaro

Stefano Petrungaro is a historian of modern and contemporary Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and teaches at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Among his areas of research are several themes closely connected to Alexander Langer’s thought and work, including border regions and coexistence in multi-ethnic, multi-confessional and multilingual societies, which he has studied with particular reference to the late Habsburg Empire.

He also works on questions of war, violence and their memory, with a long-standing focus on Yugoslavia and the Balkans.

Lorenzo Vianini

Born in Bolzano in 1993, Lorenzo Vianini became involved in politics while still in secondary school and later joined Radio Tandem, where he works as a technician and serves as a member of the Board of Directors.

He completed his academic career with a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Urbino.

As a historian, his research focuses mainly on the development of local memories in the post-war period, with particular attention to the relationship between personal and collective memories and the political and media construction of the past.

Anna Wolf

Anna Wolf is a South Tyrolean legal scholar specialising in linguistic rights and a European at heart. Her interests extend beyond minorities and human rights to broader philosophical questions.

In the past, she contributed to several research projects at Eurac Research and completed traineeships at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the Council of Europe and at the European Union Delegation to the Council of Europe. She subsequently worked as a journalist.

From 2024 to 2025, she conducted research at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, on the protection of the linguistic rights of Indigenous peoples and First Nations in Australia.

Her enduring passion, however, remains... the French language!
