Over the years, many parks, bridges (often pedestrian and cycling bridges) and cycling paths have been named after Alexander Langer. Streets are rarer, especially in his native province. In Reggio Emilia, the garden of religions has been dedicated to him, and since 2024 Langer has had a place in the garden of the righteous in Lampedusa. In 2015, the city of Tuzla paid tribute to him by planting a linden tree.

In 2021 Langer was declared an honorary citizen of Sarajevo, in 2022 an honorary citizen of Tuzla, and in 2025 an honorary citizen of the canton of Sarajevo.
