Brief profiles of the Board Members:
Clara Bassan
I was born in 1993 and live in the province of Vicenza. After graduating in History from the University of Padua and in Transnational History from the University of Geneva, I am currently a PhD candidate in Contemporary History at the University of Turin.
My research interests focus on the history of environmental movements and Green parties, and my doctoral project examines the figure and work of Alexander Langer in the European Parliament.
Federico Faloppa
After completing his PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London, Federico Faloppa taught at the universities of Birmingham, Granada, London and Turin.
He is currently Professor of the History of the Italian Language and Sociolinguistics at the University of Reading.
He has worked as an editor and as a consultant on linguistic and intercultural issues for public institutions and non-governmental organisations. His research has focused in particular on ethnic stereotypes and the linguistic construction of diversity.
Giulia Galera
Born in Sterzing/Vipiteno, Giulia Galera is currently a researcher at Euricse in Trento, an institute specialising in social enterprises and cooperatives.
Her research interests include the role and potential of the third sector in fostering the social and labour-market inclusion of vulnerable people, supporting asylum seekers, refugees and people holding different forms of international protection, promoting community-based healthcare systems and, more broadly, combating inequalities and building a more cohesive and democratic society.
She has coordinated numerous European projects and collaborated with a range of national and international institutions. She is also President of Miledù, a social enterprise based in Como.
Sabina Langer
Sabina Langer works in the fields of political education, citizenship education and democracy education in schools.
She holds a degree in Political Philosophy and has always been interested in the art of living together. As a language facilitator, she has worked on the teaching and learning of Italian as a means of fostering coexistence. As an editor and author of school textbooks, she has sought to contribute to pupils’ well-being through inclusive educational materials.
She is currently a PhD candidate in Education at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, where her research focuses on the potential of civic education to strengthen student voice.
For more than 20 years, Bosnia and Herzegovina has felt somewhat like a second home to her, thanks in part to projects carried out with the Alexander Langer Stiftung Foundation.
Marzio Marzorati
A traveller and environmental communicator, Marzio Marzorati has been active in Legambiente Lombardia since 1990. Over the years, he has served as Vice-President, Director and Head of Parks and Protected Areas.
Today, he is responsible for the educational and hospitality centre at Prim’Alpe in Canzo, in the province of Como, and works on environmental project development.
He is President of the Innova21 Agency in the province of Monza and Brianza, which works on sustainable development; President of Parco Nord Milano; and Coordinator of Federparchi Lombardia. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of COSPE, an international cooperation NGO based in Florence, and a member of the Steering Committee of ARPA Lombardia.
From 1998 to 2008, he served as Councillor for the Environment, Social Services and Community Affairs in the Municipality of Seveso. Between 1983 and 1996, he worked in international cooperation as a development worker and consultant in Nicaragua, Chile, Bolivia, Guatemala, Niger and Mozambique.
He lives in Seveso and loves Milan. Over the years, he has kept and cared for bees in Brianza, Tuscany and Nicaragua, as well as in other parts of Lombardy, and today at Prim’Alpe in the foothills of the Como Alps.

Since 1999, he has been involved in international cooperation through the Circolo Alex Langer in Viareggio, of which he has been President since 2005. Since 2006, he has also been a member of COSPE, where he has served on the Board and as Treasurer.
