EUROMEDITERRANEA 2015 - 20 years after Srebrenica, in memory of Alexander Langer
This year for the first time, Euromediterranea, the traditional annual event of the Langer Foundation, will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Twenty years after the genocide of Srebrenica and after the passing of Alexander Langer we decided to create a program dedicated to his figure and engagement and to the thick network of relations born from the work carried out by the Langer Foundation in the last 10 years in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2-11 July 2015, Bolzano - Tuzla - Sarajevo - Srebrenica
We will start from the experience of the "Verona Forum for peace and reconciliation in the territories of Former Yugoslavia", of which Langer was one of the main promoters, to move to today challanges.
One of the key actors of the program will be the Association Adopt Srebrenica. Young people from Srebrenica who, since 2005, work on the ground to open spaces for dialogue among different stories and traditions in order to improve the future of their city. Inspired by Langer’s words they are: "pioneer plants, mediators, bridges builders, wall jumpers and frontiers explorers”.
This year the Association Adopt Srebrenica will receive the International Alexander Langer Award 2015, for their everyday engagement in promoting inter-ethnic dialogue in one of the most complex contexts of the Balkans. But also for their ability to invite local and international audience to reflect on a foundamental episode of European history.
Like each year the program is addressed to local and international participants and foresees activities intended to gather a public with different backgrounds and different knowledge of the local context.
